Training Practice

We are a training practice for doctors specialising in general practice. These doctors will be working at the practice from time to time. You may also find that medical school students will occasionally observe a consultation. You will be informed in advance and if you are not happy with this, please do not hesitate to tell the reception staff.

Nurses

Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.

Reception

Our reception team serve as a crucial connection between patients and the practice, acting as the first point of contact for general inquiries. They can provide basic information about services and test results and direct you to the appropriate person based on your health issue or question. Receptionists handle most appointment bookings with GPs and nurses. Additionally, they perform vital tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions, managing prescription inquiries, processing financial claims, handling patient records, and conducting searches and practice audits.

Health Visitors

The Health Visitors are located at Pentwyn Health Centre and can provide advice on the care of children under five, including immunisations, feeding, and behavioural issues. They hold baby clinics on Tuesdays from 13:00 to 14:30 pm at our Pentwyn Branch, St Davids Medical Centre. You can also reach them by phone during the week at 02920 735 003.
